Hi, this is a writeup for Searchlight-IMINT which is from TryHackMe Platform by zewensec. This room is suitable for beginners who just started their journey in OSINT.

Without further ado, let’s get started!

Task 1-Welcome to the searchlight-IMINT room!

This task is just explaining what is searchlight-IMINT. For the flag, it is just at the last sentence of the last paragraph. The answer is considered as a flag, so the answer will not be given here as per requirement for every write-up for TryHackMe.

Task 2-Your First Challenge!

We are required to download an image. After opening, we can see this image:

So, based on the question given, the name of the street can be easily spotted in the picture.

Task 3-Just Google it!

In this task, we are required to download a file and answer a few questions based on this image.

So, google this image and we can find out that:
- location
- name

Through this search, we found the first two answers. After that, search the name in Wikipedia and we will find the last two.

Pretty easy with Googling right?

Task 4-Keep at it!

This time, it is harder. The image provided only provides us very little information to use, which is the word behind. YVR Connects and yvr.ca.

So, I started to search for YVR with the image through google and I found the building location and name. So, it just completed almost instantly!

Task 5-Coffee and light lunch

I found that there's a name in the photo, so I googled it. I found plenty of the shop named The Edinburgh Woollen Mill across Scotland. But, We can look one by one through Google maps provided images and compare them with the shop. I realized the shop is a bit “curve” which might be our breaking point. So, after a few comparisons, I finally found it!

So, I entered the city to the answer box, and BAM, the answer is correct!

Now look for the coffee shop opposite it. So, we can zoom in to the map and we can easily find the name and address also the contact number of the shop.

A bit of a hint: the street name requires to be a full name instead of the short form.

Email addresses can be found by visiting the site contain email address of the shop. But the main problem is the owner’s name which took me quite a long time to find. But eventually found after knowing one of the owner's name.

Hint: The couple’s name, the male surname.

Task 5-Reverse your thinking

Next, we have an image with completely no word in it.

Based on the hint given above, we can use a reverse search engine online such as Yandex. Upload this picture to Yandex and we can easily find the answer for it.
As for the editor, we can search for the name of the editor for this place, and we can get the answer straight away.

Task 7-Locate this sculpture

What is this, deer plus motorcycle? I search for quite some time and one image with is from the front side popped up in Google image search. So I look at it. And I found the location of this sculpture. So, again search for the location with some “keywords”. And found an image similar to this and have a name below it. Yes, after a long time searching for it, I found it.

After that use visitoslo to find the name! That's it.

Task 8-…and justice for all

Upload to google search engine and we can instantly saw the name of this statue. After more digging on this picture, we can find it was located at A,V (Hints). The building opposite the statue can be easily found by using google maps. And we are done with task 8.

Task 9-The view from my hotel room.

For the last part, we can slowly analyze what can we see through the video. By collecting the building’s name and special characteristics, we can sure that the place is in Singapore. So we can use google map and locate the buildings we saw and the direction of the view. And after some time, we will finally solve the place where the author lives.

This room is very fun to play with as we need to do research on many images and find the correct location and names of the places. Most importantly, I learned many things through this room while having fun.
